‘Few things will make more of a difference to the warmth, security and appearance of your home.’
Energy Efficient Windows, Doors & Conservatories
Inevitably your home will loose heat through it’s windows and doors. In fact, studies have shown that the majority of heat loss from a house is through insufficient glazing, low quality seals and frames, and ill-fitting front doors.
Energy efficient windows and doors will keep your home warmer and quieter with the added benefit of considerably lowering your heating bills.
Building Regulations for window installation require a minimum ‘C’ rating which increases to ‘A’ where no heat loss occurs at all. At Hampton Windows & Conservatories all of our windows, doors and conservatories are ‘A’ rated – the most energy efficient product available.
You will notice the rating value chart on all of your appliances and it is this same system that is used to rate your windows. The product’s energy efficiency is displayed in coloured bands with A (the most efficient) through to dark red G (the least energy-efficient). Currently, a minimum requirement of C is stipulated by Building Regulations.
Effective Air Leakage
Air Leakage, the L-value, also contributes to the energy rating. This refers to the amount of air that is lost through the window weather seals. High-performance windows will have a low air leakage rate.
It is commonly thought that timber windows would have the least impact on the environment, however, this is no longer the case. By choosing high performing ‘A’ rated uPVC windows the carbon emissions from your home are significantly reduced, thereby minimising your carbon footprint, not to mention saving millions of trees a year. PVC-U is also lighter and easier to transport in bulk than timber.
PVC-U can be recycled over and over again with no deterioration in quality or durability. Given that these products have a lifespan of 40 years and can be recycled up to 10 times, the amount of waste going to landfill is significantly reduced.
The lifespan of your new windows and doors could be over 400 years!
